Greg Hargarten is a Saskatoon based musician, painter, and filmmaker. His self-taught, multi-faceted artistic career spans four decades. It began when he started playing drums at the age of eleven.

By the age of 24, Hargarten switched to guitar and started writing songs. He has since released four original music albums, shared the stage with the likes of Steve Earle, April Wine, and Heart, and performed all across Canada.

His songwriting has earned critical recognition by the industry and acknowledgment by the press, as well as air-play on commercial radio and national campus stations. He is a two-time winner of ROCK102’s Radiostar National Songwriting Competition at Canada Music Week. His songs have been covered by other artists, and been included on numerous compilation albums.

He continues to perform and record music both as a singer-songwriter and a musician in several other projects.

Hargarten is relatively new to film-making. He began, by making music videos and editing live performance film for himself and musical friends. In 2012 his video for his own song, “Dear Abbey Road”, won Best Small Scale Film Production at the Reel Rave Film Festival at the Mann Gallery, and more recently, his web-series “Adventures in Painting” was nominated for a Saskatchewan Independent Film Award.
